Today I recorded my third song for the project 10S10W. This song is about doing things together.

Why did you go

why did you go home today,
today is a special one
keeping my worries away
away from you

The evening feels better, being depleted
rushing through the night
I won’t go there by myself, don’t care what they think
I won’t go there on my own, without you

Without you I won’t go to the glorious mountains
the day comes again, don’t you know?
Without you I won’t go to the glorious mountains
the day comes again, oh do they knowcoupl:

dodging the slightest fears
looking ahead in the distance
I won’t go there by myself, don’t care what they think
I won’t go there on my own, without you

Would you stay here with me
even when the fire’s burning?

I won’t go there by myself, don’t care what they think
I won’t go there on my own, without you

The arms of kindness, at the end of the road
reaching out for those who cannot reach out

The next song I’ve written in 1 evening to be precise. I threw away the lyrics I wrote yesterday. These new lyrics are based on some keywords submitted by several people. I’ve chosen the following words:

Snow, cold, handout, straws in the wind

Here’s the song:

Lyrics:

Frozen

Dear mockingbird sing a song for me
Yellow shining feathers oh will they come in green?

You used to tell me stories by the river side
Now I see your feathers cause we’re all washed out
we are..

All together together frozen leaves
in the shape of your precious heart

The cold wind of the hills they blew my voice away
Flying down to your place I hear the songs that you play

Straws in the wind they do know how it’s like
to be there on the ground and we don’t know who we are, cause we’re

All together together frozen leaves
in the shape of your precious heart

Bridge:
Outstanding pictures of the red sunset
in the shape of your precious heart

Here’s the first song of the week. These song is not based on the submitted keywords from the 10s10w.com website. I’m working on these lyrics. So this song I submitted this evening is based on another project, called (No)Hope. I finished the lyrics today and recorded the song.

Lyrics:

Pressure during fall

Familiar memories in a cardboard box
do they deserve to reach yours
Do my feet reach their final goal?
Unloose some pressure during fall

I ‘m beaten but I ain’t going home
I shall release my inner throne
Do my hands reach their final goal?
Unloose some pressure during fall.

Midnight believers gave up all their hope
Daylight singers drank their wine
Some day they’ll the feel the other way around
Unloose some pressure during fall.

Bridge:
There’s a light that shines through the leaves of your heart
There’s a light that comes in when I touch you
There’s a light that flies at your feet when the morning comes down

Yesterday I wrote a post about the ’10 songs in 10 weeks’ project. My personal goal is to write a song that is almost finished and useful for playing on stage.

Stickiness factor

To encourage myself to write lyrics that are effective and have a certain stickiness factor, I need your input. I’m trying to write songs based on keywords you submit.

So please submit some keywords and I will try to write a song based on a few keywords from the list. Don’t feel disappointed if I didn’t choose your keyword. I only choose these words that will fit in the song. I will blend my experiences with your keywords. So here’s my word: frozen. Good luck!

Writing songs isn’t happening at the speed of light at this moment and apparently I need some project in order achieve this goal. Someone on Dutchcowgirls.nl mentioned an event called 10s10w. The event encourages singer-songwriters to write 10 songs in 10 weeks.
